Laura Tovar represents employers of all sizes in a wide range of labor and employment matters in state and federal court, and arbitration. She defends employers in matters before state and federal agencies including the California Civil Rights Department, the California Labor Commissioner, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Laura routinely defends employers in matters relating to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. She has also defended employers in wage and hour class actions and claims brought under the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA).
She also strategically counsels employers on minimizing legal risk and maintaining employment law compliance. She helps employers draft complaint employment agreements, policies, and handbooks.
Laura has also represented employers in unfair labor practice proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and in collective bargaining negotiations.
She enjoys providing pro bono immigration services and has assisted youth in San Francisco with guardianship, asylum and special immigrant juvenile status applications.
