NASHVILLE, TN (February 26, 2013) - Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the world’s largest employment and labor law firm representing management, has added Joycelyn A. Stevenson as a shareholder in the firm’s expanding Nashville office. Stevenson, previously a partner with Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP, focuses her practice in the areas of labor and employment and business immigration law. Her arrival reflects Littler’s continued growth in the region since the office opened in 2011.
“I am pleased to welcome Joycelyn to our growing team here in Nashville,” said Nashville Office Managing Shareholder, Jennifer Robinson. “Her wide scope of labor and employment expertise, including a specialty in immigration, will add tremendous value and serve our expanding regional, national and global client base well.”
Stevenson represents clients in a variety of industries, with a particular emphasis in the health care industry. She defends administrative charges and lawsuits brought pursuant to state and federal employment laws including the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII, the Family Medical Leave Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act. Her immigration practice focuses on a wide variety of matters crucial to her business clients, including I-9 and E-Verify compliance, and obtaining and maintaining employer-based non-immigrant and immigrant visas for foreign employees. In addition to her employment, litigation and immigration practices, Stevenson provides day-to-day counseling on personnel issues and routinely provides training to supervisors and managers on all aspects of employment law.
“This is an exciting time to be joining the largest labor and employment specialty practice in the world. Littler provides an excellent national and global platform for me to grow both my employment and immigration practices,” commented Stevenson. “I look forward to leveraging my involvement in the Nashville business and legal communities to further Littler’s presence in the local market and beyond.”
Active in the community, Stevenson holds a number of leadership positions. Most recently, she was elected to the Board of Directors of both the Nashville Bar Association and the Nashville Farmers’ Market. She currently serves as president of the Council on Aging of Greater Nashville and the Immediate Past President of the Lawyers’ Association for Women, Marion Griffin Chapter (“LAW”). She is the 2013 LAW nominee for the Nashville Athena Young Professional Award which will be awarded in March. In 2011 Stevenson was selected as a Fellow of the Nashville Bar Foundation and was honored as one of Nashville Business Journal’s Top Forty under Forty.
Stevenson received her J.D. in 2001 from Vanderbilt University Law School and earned her B.A., magna cum laude, in 1998 from Howard University.
